The following link is a presentation that any resident of our “three communities” (South Bend, Mishawaka and Notre Dame) should find compelling. The subject: “What makes for a more walkable city?” Transportation is a key! Notice the reference to the relationship of the car to every other way of getting around. The point is not that cars should be restricted or kept out of cities. Not at all! The point is that good planning and good public transportation that people will find both useful, convenient, safe and comfortable can make all the difference.
