The Wayne Street Historic District (Sunnymede Neighborhood) is one of the most beautiful and historically significant neighborhoods in South Bend.
It came about in the 1920’s and, according to the official history of the neighborhood: “The rapid growth of this area can be attributed to its accessibility to both of the downtowns of Mishawaka and South Bend via the Eddy Street streetcar line…”
As we have stated elsewhere, “Connections are everything” in the vitality of cities. The proposed RiverRail will generate connections that will be the lifeblood of our community.
